Some cracking work from today's Criw Celf oil pastel workshop at Pensychnant Conservation Centre. We used Jim Dine's drawings as inspiration for the workshop, and I demonstrated how to blend colour using oil pastels, naturally some skulls from the centre's collection found their way into the workshop ;)

Here's day two of mine and Wendy Couling's portfolio development session with Criw Celf. In this second session the group explored various ways of recording marks using monoprint. Using different techniques of transferring the marks onto a variety of papers and surfaces the group collected their drawings together to make a sketchbook record of their marks.
We ended the session with a group crit, looking through examples of their work and discussing where they'd like their work to go next, and what techniques they'd like to develop in the future.

Here's some examples of the work created during mine and Wendy Couling's portfolio development session with Criw Celf. On the first day of the weekend long workshop, I helped the group explore various forms of mark-making using ink and drawing tools made from various natural and man-made objects. Using different types of papers and surfaces the group collected their drawings together to make a sketchbook record of their marks.
